Kitakyushu soul food "Tochikuken's Kashiwameshi"
Tochikuken's "Kashiwameshi" is celebrating its 100th anniversary and has been loved by everyone as a local gourmet dish in Orio.
In addition, the unchanged taste that has been passed down since 1921 has been certified as Kitakyushu City's "Food Brand: One Million Breaths." It has also been ranked No. 1 in the "Tasty Ekiben JR Kyushu" in a ekiben survey.
After much trial and error to maintain the taste, flavor, and texture that are essential to Kashiwameshi when thawed, we have commercialized this product using the latest freezing technology.
A secret seasoning
The seasoning for the takikomi gohan, which is well-known for being tastier than the chicken, was devised by Suyo, the wife of the founder, Honjo.
The seasoning ratio that has been devised is kept secret and has been passed down as a secret recipe to only one woman in the Honjo family for generations, creating a uniquely flavorful broth.
How to eat
The thawed chicken rice tastes even better if you lightly mix it once, so we have included the three colored toppings in separate small bags.
Although it is a bit of a hassle for customers to put the ingredients on the table themselves, with your help Tochikuken's Kashiwameshi will be completed.
- You can defrost it in the microwave, but we recommend defrosting it naturally.
- You can put it in your bag in the morning and eat it around lunchtime. (Guideline for natural thawing: 25°C for about 4 hours)
